INTERtunnel 2015 will be the seventh in a highly successful series of events enabling engineers and buyers to learn more about the very latest in tunnelling and underground construction technology and expertise.
In a country as vast as Russia, tunnels are playing a key role in the development of transport and utilities infrastructure. Many major projects for new highways and railways and expansion of metro systems in principal cities frequently entail the construction of tunnels, in some instances in very challenging conditions.
Utilities projects needed to support Russia’s economic development – including hydro-electric, sewerage and water supply schemes – are also boosting demand for specialised tunnel building equipment and expertise.
And there is now an increasing trend to make greater use of underground spaces as a tool for sustainable urbanisation. The need to optimise available space in cities while improving transport facilities, preserving their heritage and making them acceptable places in which to live is driving this trend. As a result growing use is being made of underground spaces for commercial purposes, for parking and for more conventional uses such as transport and utilities infrastructure.
It is against this strong market background that INTERtunnel 2015 provides an opportunity for suppliers of all products and services for tunnelling and underground construction to showcase their capabilities, meet decision-makers and exchange ideas and experiences.
